Job Posting - Business Manager

St. Thomas the Apostle Church and School in Ann Arbor, MI is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Business Manager. This position is responsible for the financial reporting of all parish, school and cemetery funds. Also responsible for fiscal year-end reports to the parish and Diocese, preparation of bank deposits, annual budget preparation, coordinate and lead the Parish Finance Council, and overall facilities management including the cemetery. Other responsibilities include supervision of all bookkeeping functions and payroll preparation and tax reporting, sacramental records and facility scheduling. Salary will be commensurate with education and experience. Employment is also subject to a background check.

Applicants must have the following required skills and experience:

--Be a practicing Catholic
--A degree in Accounting and work experience in an accounting or bookkeeping position or a related business field
--Experience in cash handling, budget preparation and at least four years of supervision experience
--Proficient in computer applications and accounting software
--Can communicate effectively
--Maintain total confidentiality of parishioner information
--Able to work independently

Long Term Substitute Teacher
First Grade, Fall 2013
St. Thomas School
Ann Arbor, MI

St. Thomas School, in the heart of historic Kerrytown, in Ann Arbor MI, is seeking a long term substitute teacher for our first grade classroom for the fall of the 2013/14 school year. This role will be responsible for development and implementation of lesson plans for all core subject areas for this class of approximately 20 students. Qualified candidates should possess experience with running records and the guided reading program, possess excellent classroom management skills and be able to provide examples of parent/teacher newsletters/correspondence. Experience with conducting morning meeting and creating a strong classroom community will be essential as well as the importance of establishing strong professional relationships with the families served.

Requirements for the position are: a bachelor’s degree in elementary education with a current MI teaching certificate, a ZA endorsement is preferred. Applicants must be a practicing Catholic and have completed the Protecting God’s Children courses for the Diocese of Lansing prior to beginning the position.
